Interested in learning how to take better photos but don’t know where to start? Would you like to go on some photo adventures but you really don’t want to go alone?
Did you know there’s an amazing photography club right here in Hampton Roads?
I want to give a shout out to the amazing local club, Hampton Roads Digital Shutterbug Club. I joined the group several years ago and I can tell you that they’ve made me a better photographer because of everything they offer their members.
The annual membership fee is negligible but the value is priceless. Everyone is welcome from hobbyist to pro, from camera phone to high-end gear. They’re a wicked friendly bunch too!
Here’s some of the things they offer:
- Monthly meetings featuring fascinating speakers from around the country. You’re guaranteed to get some inspiration and valuable information from these folks. (Currently done via Zoom.)
- Monthly photo challenges with a variety of themes, submitted by and voted on by members. BONUS! —You’ll get a snazzy certificate if you submit one of the top favorite images of the month.
- Photos outings—WHOO BOY! These range from a night of baseball with the Norfolk Tides, wildlife tours, Chincoteague Island by boat, ferry to Tangier Island, food and product photography, night photography, landscape photography and more.
It’s a fantastic learning opportunity no matter what style of photography interests you, or what level of photographer you are. There’s no pressure, just a whole lot of positive support and learning opportunities.
We recently got together at the Botanical Gardens where I gave members a basic lesson in pet photography and tips to take better pet photos. (Perhaps all the dogs in this photo was your first clue.)
Anyway, we’d love to have you join us. You’ll be glad you did. Hampton Roads Digital Shutterbug Club
