Photo Session, Shelter events

It was Bubblicious!

The past two weekends were filled with laughter, dog slobber, and a whole lot of soapy bubbles.   We took our show on the road and attended area fundraiser events for two of our favorite shelters. First up was the Virginia Beach SPCA’s Mutt Masquerade, held late in October each year at the oceanfront.

It was unseasonably warm with some passing rain showers, but we set up our tent, some artwork samples, and a pop-up (or maybe “pup”-up) studio complete with a bubble machine. Our first attempt seemed to be a real crowd favorite. We photographed nearly 30 costumed dogs; it was Halloween weekend after all! A whole lot of adorable (and adorned) dogs agreed to pose for a photo in exchange for a donation to the shelter. We think they performed flawlessly and we were thrilled to raise some much needed money for homeless animals.

Feeling quite courageous after our first Bubble Studio attempt, we loaded up again this past weekend for Chesapeake Humane’s Society’s Bark in the Park.  You might guess that a 65 degree sunny day was absolutely perfect to draw a large crowd with dogs of all sizes and shapes, and you’d be correct!  Our Bubble Photos were once again a big hit and we ended up photographing over 70 dogs. That’s a lot of soapy suds!  We even had a gorgeous Argentine Tegu named “Severus” stop by for a quick image…we held off on the bubbles for that critter!

It’s wonderful to meet so many great people (and their pups) who support our area shelters.  I can’t think of any better way to spend Sunday afternoons in late autumn.

What have you been doing lately for fun?
